Good Day Hilltoppers!
I would like to thank the entire community for their understanding and patience while we endured two days without water pressure last week. It was an unforeseen accident that we could only react to and had little time to prepare for. Nonetheless, it caused inconvenience and stress on our families and businesses, not to mention the loss of two school days. We will announce changes to the calendar to make up the two lost days as soon as we make a decision.
A question that came up multiple times during this event was: “Why didn’t we use E-Learning Days rather than miss 2 days?” This is an excellent question and one that we asked the Illinois State Board of Education on two different occasions. Since the end of the pandemic, the use of E-Learning Days has been narrowed only to days of inclement weather (snow, cold, ice, etc…). While a busted water main would seem to qualify, it, in fact, doesn’t by their guidelines.
Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding!
